CHCDO to grant 38 housing units

The City Government of Tacloban through the City Housing and Community
Development Office (CHCDO) is set to turn over 38 housing units in Tacloban North for
the residents of Barangay 39, Calvary Hill.
Draw lots was held to identify the recipients of the housing privilege on Friday,
November 6 at the City Engineering Office (CEO) Gym.
The draw lots were led by Atty. Agnes Pacheco who represented Mayor Alfred
Romualdez and was assisted by acting CHCDO Head Tedence Jopson and Brgy. 39,
Calvary Hill Captain Ricardo Ogardo.
“At first, these families were not prioritized to be relocated since the focus was
those living along the coastal area. However, due to an easement project along the
creek (Mangon-bangon), identified as a danger zone, the said families will be relocated
at St. Francis Village in the north, a National Housing Authority (NHA) project which
already turned over to the local government” said Jopson during his talk.
The exact date of the turnover is yet to be announced by the local government
unit but the Mayor is hopeful for the immediate announcement of the ownership grant to
the beneficiaries.
“I am excited that they can occupy as soon as possible so that they can have
time to finish their structures” the Mayor expressed.
Meanwhile, while waiting for the ownership grant beneficiaries are allowed to
start transferring to their assigned units.
The City Engineering Office and City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management
Office (CDRRMO) on the other hand, will be taking charge of the demolition, sending
and receiving of families in the site.
This was a part of CHCDO’s vision of a clean and green community and also for
taking measures for the arrival of typhoon season.
