Information technology is not just a pathway to your future; your degree could help you shape the
future. Technology is everywhere, affects everyone and is never still. If IT is your passion, our
Bachelor of Information Technology immerses you in a field that is driving our world forward.

If you dream of developing amazing software, designing multimedia experiences or creating

tomorrow’s smart systems, this degree provides the technical, analytical and creative skills you
need. Study on campus or online and take advantage of optional internship units that add hands-on,
real-life experience.

Tailor your studies through the choice of a major in business analytics, networks and cybersecurity,
software development or user experience. An added bonus is our ‘Women in Technology’ program
which provides dedicated support for women entering this industry.

Whether as a programmer, designer, web developer, systems analyst, database administrator,

project manager, ICT network professional or technical support personnel, the Bachelor of
Information Technology is the beginning of what could be an amazing future.

The Bachelor of Information Technology will equip you with the skills and knowledge for a
successful career in the information technology (IT) industry.

Designed with input from our industry partners, benefit from innovative, up-to-date and
industry-relevant units, as well as in-built practical experiences.

During the course, you can choose to major in Application Development, Business Analysis
or Cyber Security, all of which include completion of a project in the final year. This project
is team-based and requires the production of project management artefacts typically
required of a small-scale commercial project appropriate to your major.

You will also have the opportunity to apply for an internship, which can be undertaken
instead of completing the project.
What you'll learn

 Apply computer networking concepts to develop solutions and protect systems

related to information technology
 Evaluate information technologies in a manner that is appropriate for a given
problem and think critically and creatively to generate innovative and optimum
theoretical and practical solutions
 Identify, evaluate and synthesise information from a range of technology sources
to optimise the process of network design and implementation
 Document information technology activities and artefacts and communicate them
in written and oral form to both technical and non-technical audiences and

This course has a strong emphasis on the application of contemporary and
emerging technologies, including cloud and high-performance computing, agile
web development and software project design and management.

You'll develop computer programs in a number of contemporary scripting and

programming languages and apply logical and critical thinking skills to harness
existing technologies to manage and analyse large data sets.

You'll also be introduced to other fundamental pillars of information technology

(IT), including network and web-based systems and their security, and human-
computer interaction.

The course is presented by members of UWA's big data and optimisation

research groups, and includes guest lectures from industry. You'll participate in a
group design project providing you with an opportunity to apply your knowledge
to a real-world design challenge.

Why study this course?

1. The Master of IT is guided by industry requirements, meaning you'll learn

the latest skills and knowledge to set you apart when you graduate.
2. Because of the many industry partners, you'll have the a lot of
opportunities to network with future employers to create important
connections.
3. This course includes hands-on learning where you'll develop computer
programs in a number of contemporary scripting and programming
languages.

5. There are only 5 accredited universities that offer education related to IT courses in Nepal but
these available institutes & colleges can’t provide us best practical knowledge and platforms
required for the students from computer background as computer related courses are more
pratically based. Not only that, still course material is designed for theoretical knowledge. And I
was hugely disappointed from the old syllabus and teaching techniques which was repeated
everytime over and over again. Also we need to attend entrance examination to confirm seat in
colleges which are derivatives of SAT, ACT. It takes a long process to do. Though we confirm the
seat and pass the course securing good marks, the degree we will gain will not be globally
recognized. Our education system acknowledges students only on the basis of percentage
achieved by students. Morever, we need to face a lot of public holidays bringing irregularity in
our study, board examinations and result.
