1.0Introduction

This method statement is prepared to ensure the effectiveness link of transportation


with following goals:
- To ensure fast and efficient transport of fresh fruit bunches to the mill.
- To ensure good access to the plantations for farmers and labourers.
- To reduce damage to trucks.

2.0Machinery

4.0 Referred Standard

 Road surface is flat, compacted and without holes.


 Road is passable 365 days per year.
 Drainage ditches are free from weeds and rubbish.

5.0 Procedures
 Identify the road defects based on following criteria:
- Visual inspections
- Complaints
- Before the peak production season
- Before and after the raining season
 Mobilization of machineries and manpower to identified defects road section.
 Potholes shall be filled by sand or small aggregates and compacted by excavator’s
buckets.
 If there is water ponding, the water shall be drain out to side ditches before proceed
with filling of sand or small aggregates.
 During rectification or maintenance of roads, all workers shall wear PPE like safety
vest. AWAS signs and Barricade shall be put at front and rear of machineries as
warning to the road users.
 Routine maintenance of roads with gravelling of roads, filling in potholes and
cleaning weeds from roadside and ditches.

6.0 Conclusions
If roads are in bad conditions, transport of the fresh fruit bunches will be slower and
therefore more expensive. Thus it is important in regular maintenance of roads to
prevents damage from becoming too large to repair.
