TAKE YOUR TIME

Introduction:

Technical Vocational and Livelihood Track (TECH-VOC) was one of the added

curriculum together with the Academic Track that compromises of the strands of Science,

Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), Accountancy, Business and Management

(ABM),  Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) and General Academic Strand (GAS), when

the K to 12 System was implemented in the Philippines. Each strand and/or track were given the

same core subjects and different specialized subjects which is base according to their strand.

Core subjects in each strand are taken five times a week while their specialized subjects are taken

atleast three to four times a week. Unfortunately, in the Tech-Voc track, they were only given a

single day (Thursday) to master all the knowledge into skills which is obviously not enough.

Purpose:

The purpose of this paper is to give Tech-Voc track an additional one day for their

specialize subjects, giving them twice a week of the said subjects. It is to balance and focus their

mind not only just in their core subjects but also in their specialized one. Moreover, the skills
they will learn will be useful once they took the assessment of NCII at Technical Education and

Skills Development Authority or also known as TESDA.

Short Description:

In Pasig Catholic College, Tech-Voc track is made up of two trands namely Home

Economics (HE) and Information and Communications Technology (ICT). Furthermore, Tech-

Voc track is also known for their expensive fees and for having several hands on activities.

Unfortunately, the money are just allotted in a higher time percentage in their core subjects rather

than their specialized subjects because in this track, proper discussion, written works, and

application is not enough in a single day.

Due to the Education System, the Tech-Voc students is forced to adapt to everything

that needs to be done in a single day particularly Home Economics students that were only given

half of the day for the discussion and the other half to apply what they have learned. In result of

this, students are more likely to get tired and lose interest for the subject.

The lack of time is not only the problem. There are also some factors that greatly affect

their class meetings such as Class Suspension. Class suspensions is the primary reason why these

students were not able to attend their one-day specialized subject. Also, this greatly affect their

class meetings that leads in being late to their covered topics that needs to be discuss. In addition

to this, there are also some school events that affect the class activities for that day.
Objectives:

 To have extra time to enhance the knowledge and skills in their specialized subjects

 To balance activites in both core and specialized subjects

 To avoid cramming and extreme tiredness

Questions:

 Why this project needs to be conducted?

 What will be the effect of this project to the students particulary Tech-Voc students?

 Who are the participants involved in this project?

Methodology

This project will involve all Grade 11 Tech-Voc students particulary the Home

Economis strand. Two-day specialization is already enough to enhance their skills. The first day

of the meeting (Thursday) is pure discussion and lecturing ,while the second day, which is

Friday, will be a whole day cooking application.

Conclusion:

This project will help the student of Pasig Catholic College particularly the Grade 11

students of Tech-Voc Home Economics to balance both time in core and specialized subjects.

This will lessen their stress and tiredness for the whole week. Also, it will give them additional

time to practice the lesson they have learned.


Stakeholders/Beneficiaries:

It will be very helpful for these students as they manage their time easily and because

of their managed time, they can help and bond with their family. It will also be helpful for the

teachers who will have a vacant time for Thursday and Friday.
