ACTION:

Therapeutic Uses
Decreases panic attacks, OCD behavior, decrease feeling of
intense fear, helplessness or horror and decrease social anxiety.

Adverse Effects Nursing Interventions


Suicidal thoughts, dizziness, dry mouth, nausea, sexual Assess for suicidal tendencies,

Contraindications
Concurrent use of MAOIs, caution with severe hepatic or
renal impairment, pt's with history of mania, suicide
attempt.
Client Education
Take mediation as directed do not
skip doses.
Do not double dose.
Medication/Food Interactions Do not stop abruptly.
Methylene blue may increase risk of serotonin syndrome, Avoid drinking alcohol.
Buspirone, tramadol, amphetamines, fentanyl.
