Q) How did he describe similarities between immigrants and refugees and

people affected by pandemic?

Lionel Laroche put all his efforts to help new immigrants how to survive in this pandemic
situation by finding jobs using their skills and expertise, education and experience. Lionel
Laroche described the similarities between immigrant and people affected by pandemic in such a
manner that explains the situation of the people that are greatly affected by such situation he
explains “the rules are changed for both immigrant/refugees and people affected by this
pandemic, we should agree upon the new rules and regulations for the new reality”. He further
said that he frequently heard both (immigrants/refugees and people affected by pandemic)
saying: “I am missing my favorite meal, friends and family” and also “I cannot go outside to eat,
play and enjoys with friends”. Both immigrant and people restricted at home suffer cultural
shock, might go through transition process of change and adaptation they have to learn how to
connect with each other during physical distancing. They have to find a comfort zone within this
pandemic both have seen heartbreakingly increase in domestic violence and mental health
problems that will not be easy for one to go through such a worse condition.

Q) How can you use intercultural communication skills to support an elder

family member during the pandemic? (Pick one elder family member how will
you use your skills.)
In this pandemic time, utilizing the abilities of intercultural communication skills are very
important to help the more older people, their families and even their parental caregivers. Being
there for the elderly since during the hours of isolation and quarantine, the older people need safe
admittance to nutritious food, essential supplies, cash, medication to support their health, and
social consideration.

Further, the dissemination of precise information is considered crucial, to guarantee that older
people have the reasonable messages just as the resources on how to stay physically and
mentally healthy, in this pandemic. Also the way that the intercultural communication skills
should be utilized to communicate well to the older people and help them adapt to the pandemic.
My grandfather who is the most aged person of my family is not adapted to this pandemic, he
often wants to go outside, to hang out with their age fellows and to spend good time with them
but in this crucial situation of pandemic it is not possible for them to go outside as this pandemic
hits older people very quickly so for all this situation I will talk to them and tell them the cons of
this pandemic that it will not only affect you but can affect the whole family.
