Cold wave may worsen in

2-3 days

The cold may get worse within the next two or three days as the temperature
is likely to fall further.

"The ongoing mild cold spell may turn into a moderate cold wave," said
Hafizur Rahman, a meteorologist.

"The temperature may come down to 6 degree Celsius at some places. It may
fluctuate between 6 to 8 degree Celsius, " he added.

"The temperature may start falling from Sunday and it may continue to fall
for the next two to three days," he told The Daily Star yesterday evening.

The meteorologist also said that multiple mild to moderate cold spells may
sweep the country in January.

Yesterday's lowest temperature was recorded as 8.0 degree Celsius in


Badalgachhi of Naogaon.

"Mild cold wave is sweeping over the regions of Dinajpur, Nilphamari,


Kurigram, Panchagarh, Kushtia, Rajshahi, Pabna, Naogaon, and Srimangal,"
read yesterday's weather bulletin.
"It may continue," added the bulletin of Bangladesh Meteorological
Department, released at 9:00am yesterday.

"Weather may remain dry with temporary partly cloudy sky over the country.
Moderate to thick fog may occur at places over the river basins and light to
moderate fog may occur elsewhere between late night and morning," the
bulletin also stated.
