    The Parish of Hamtic was discovered and established between 1640 and 1685 during
    serious insurrections by Filipinos that caused great damages to the Spanish mission where
    Hamtic suffered from these disturbances.

    2. Who were the significant persons who helped to establish and re-establish it?
    The significant persons who helped to establish and re-establish it was Augustinians
    Friar Juan Alonso Abarca, who was the Parish Priest of Hamtic in 1644 and Fray Hipolito
    Casiano, who was an appointed Parish Priest from Manila in 1679 on which during his
    time, the Church of Hamtic was transferred to where it now stand.

    The church help to civilize the people of Hamtic by reaching those people who left
    the town to live in the mountains to persuade them to go back to their fields and house in
    the town. The church also help the people to become closer with God through His Gospels.
