Keeping Oneself, and Everything Clean
(Occupational Health and Safety)
Cleanliness is the key to healthy and safe living. Let us always apply and follow the safety precautions and
guidelines specially that we are food handlers. Together, let us be involved in doing it. Our right, our
responsibility because we care.

Good Kitchen and Laboratory Practices Can be Achieved By:


1. Maintaining personal hygiene.
2. Keeping and maintaining the cleanliness in handling the food, utensils and equipment, the food
laboratory, and the inside/outside the working area.
3. Sanitize all laboratory tools, utensils and equipment, including the lab before and after use.
4. Observe proper waste management.

 Remove jewelry and accessories before starting to work.
 Hands should be cleaned and nails cut short.
 Use appropriate work outfit which is cleaned and ironed.
 Fix your hair to prevent loose hair and wear head cap to absorb sweat on head.
 Keep sick person out of the kitchen.

Following Correct Procedures


 Study and follow the recipe accurately.

 Pre-heat the oven.
 Measure ingredients accurately.
 Observe correct hand and mixing techniques.
 Make use of the type of pan specified in the recipe.
 Follow the specific baking time and temperature stated in the recipe.

Because cleanliness and safety begins in each one`s hands.
