In Mendoza there are 27 sub-appellations, legally recognized as
“Indicaciones Geográficas” (IGs). Through extraordinary diversity
in soil quality, altitude and climate, Mendoza’s sub-appellation/IGs
are essential in defining the terroir of Argentine wine.
In Burgundy, the Vins de Village are wines that come from grapes
grown in the territory of certain villages which give their name to
the appellation, such as Volnay, Pommard, Meursault or
Vosne-Romanée. In a similar manner, the rural towns of Lunlunta,
Vista Flores, San Carlos, Tupungato, Agrelo and La Consulta lend
their names to the beautiful historic vineyards that surround them.
Wines labeled from a particular appellation/IG must be sourced
100% from vineyards in the IG.

de “Indicaciones Geográficas” (IGs). Con gran diversidad de suelos,
altitud y clima, dichas sub-regiones o Indicaciones Geográficas
resultan cruciales para definir el terroir del vino argentino.
En la Borgoña, los “Vins de Village” son los vinos que provienen de
uvas cultivadas en determinadas comunas que dan el nombre a la
denominación, como Volnay, Pommard, Meursault o
Vosne-Romanée. De manera similar, los pueblos rurales de
Lunlunta, Vista Flores, San Carlos, Tupungato, Agrelo y La Consulta
dan su nombre a los hermosos viñedos históricos que los rodean.
Las uvas empleadas en la elaboración de vinos etiquetados con una
determinada Indicación Geográfica deberán provenir 100% de
viñedos pertenecientes a dicha IG.
