1. OBJECTIVE
The questions in this section will help us understand the overall goal of the
site.

A. The site is just meant to serve promotional and informational needs.

B. The site also acts as a front-end to give access to business features

C. Who is the primary audience for the site? Are you targeting multiple core
audience?

D. For each of the group(s) identified above, please provide the following:
- age group
- preferred device to access the site
- most sought after information/content
- most sought after service/feature
- anything else

2. LOOK & FEEL


The questions in this section will help us decide the look and feel of the site.

A. Do you want to retain the look and feel of the exiting site?

B. I'm assuming that you want the usual list of contemporary features on your
site (slideshow, social media, mobile-friendly, SEO-friendly). Is there any
particular feature/aspect that is more important to you?

C. Are there some canned features that you would like your site to have for
example weather, stock quote etc.

D. http://sbicard.com is one sample site you have shared with us. Are there any
other site that you would like us to look at?

3. CONTENT
The questions in this section will help us decide the nature of content you want
to serve.

A. How many primary sections do you envision in your site? One can have a
section dedicated for each core audience.

B. Will your site have its content grouped into a complex arrangement of
multiple and/or nested categories. Or do you foresee mostly flat, limited set of
categories, if at all.

C. Will you have multiple levels of Frequently Asked Questions?

D. Do you intend to have a blog/advisory column kind of feature that you have
the time and expertise to update on a regular basis, e.g., "The Market this week"
or "Share market updates" etc.
E. Do you envision video as an important media that you will be dealing with?

F. Do you see yourself as integrating news/information from multiple sources and


providing them to your audience. (RSS, news-feeds, etc.)

G. Will you have user contributed content like comments

H. Will you be pushing content to your visitors: newsletters etc.

I. Are there any other content that we have not covered?

4. SERVICES
The questions in this section will help us understand the services/features you
want/intend to provide.

A. Other than having the user browse, search, and view pages on your site, what
other features would you like to provide?

B. Do you have a good idea about what the business features are?

C. Are the business features properly defined or are you still in the process of
finalising them?

D. Are the business features already developed and in place?

E. Are there clearly defined interfaces that can be used to get these features
integrated?

F. Do you envision significant new features being developed in parallel.

5. E-COMMERCE
The questions in this section will help us understand the E-commerce needs of
your site.

A. Do you intend to collect payments/fees from your visitors?

B. What is the nature of the fees: one time or recurring?

C. How do you intend to collect payment: Credit Cards, cheques, money order.

D. Do you intend to ship products?

E. Do you envision having paid access to content or paid access to services.

F. Can visitors sign up for a subscription in your site? What happens when the
subscription expires?

G. Do you envision having discount coupons, promotional offers etc.

6. OPERATIONS
The questions in this section will help us understand how you intend to operate
and manage your site.

A. Do you have a registered domain?


B. Do you have shared and/or dedicated hosting?

C. Do you have a mailing solution in place?

D. Do you have the skills in-house to manage backups?

E. Do you have the skills in-house to edit web-content using pseudo Word-like
environments?

7. TECHNOLOGY
The questions in this section will help us understand the your
preferences/inhibitions regarding technology.

A. Web server platforms are mostly Linux, and Windows. Linux is cleaner and non
proprietary. Operation-wise it makes little difference. Do you see any reason to
have everything hosted on Windows?

B. Database technology is mostly MySQl, (Microsoft/Oracle) SQL, Postgres. Are


there any reasons to look beyond MySQL?

C. Web middleware is mostly Php, Microsoft (ASP, .net), Java. Php is easiest to
maintain and cheapest to develop. Do you see any reason to look elsewhere?

D. Popular web frameworks are Wordpress, Drupal etc.


- Wordpress is mostly for promotional/informational sites with a canned set
of features.
- Drupal is for sites with complex data, complex organisation, custom
workflows/features
Do you have any preferences?

E. Front-end technology is mostly HTML, CSS, JQuery/Javascript with support for


mobile devices. Is there anything that would cause us to look at something else?
