Lines Plan
System of Coordinates
Lines Plan
Lines plan shows the hull form of a vessel.
It consists of projections of the
intersection of the hull with a series of
planes.
The planes are equally spaced in each
of the three dimensions.
These set of planes are mutually
perpendicular or orthogonal in nature.
Lines Plan
A lines plan consists of three views:
1. Half-Breadth Plan view (a top-down view
of the vessel, with waterlines).
2. Profile view/Sheer Plan (a side-view of
the ship, with buttock lines).
3. Body plan view (a transverse view from
the ends of the vessel, with station lines).

Distances from the centreline are given for the intersection
of waterlines and the station spacing.
