ACTIVITY 3
Answer the following in your own words.

I. The picture below is a typical family residing in Metro Manila. Surround the picture
with the probable reason why the family chose to have many children.
According to Philippine Statistics Authority, the country’s population in 2019 is roughly
around 108 million – and rapid population growth is one of the most alarming issues the country
is facing until now. How individuals build their homes contributes to the increasing number of
population in the Philippines. Even though family is the smallest unit of the society, the impact
of a family ripples up to macroeconomic level of the society.
Poverty is the main reason of high birth rate in the country. In simpler picture, obviously,
a couple that spend time together without having the opportunity to be productive; has the higher
the chances of expressing their intimacy to each other. Yes, there are people who still manage to
be productive even though they’re in the poverty line but we can’t deny the fact that there are
people who chose to be poor as they just accepted their fate that they’ll die poor.
In other words, poverty can be a choice or not. Lack of proper education also contributes
to high birth rate in the country and sadly, poverty is also the root cause of this problem. We
can’t blame those who are ignorant with family planning but again, there are cases whereas
parents choose to have more children as they use their own flesh and blood to work for them
instead. In worst scenarios, there are parents who exploits their own children making them
involved with child prostitution.
