now being used in several doctors'
clinics all over the country.

 After realizing how expensive burn
treatments can be, Filipino nurse
Denver Chicano invented a treatment
using nata de coco. Coconut milk is
used to create a "cellulose" or tissue-
paper-like material that is applied to
burns and other skin wounds.
 Aside from providing a cheaper
alternative to healing wounds, coco
cellulose is a new way of adding value
to coconut products harvested by
Filipino coconut farmers. Its widespread
use can mean more livelihood for them.
