NSN Item Code and version structure.

 Only numeric item codes.(from 00035452 to 00055168)

 This item codes always should be entered with zeros before the numbers to reports or
forms.
 This type of item codes should always have 8 digits.
 This type of items usually does not have version information. Users have to write “N/A”
manually into “hardware version” field for this kind of items in Failure report field 4.

 Ex-Nokia Based Transmission items

 This item codes always starts with “T” ( like T30454.01--C1)


 This codes always comes with version info with barcode reader.
 The item codes should have 9 alphanumeric digits and figure after the 9th digit is the
version information.
 Version should be always manually cut and paste to “Hardware Version” field
 In the example of T30814.02--D0 , “T30814.02” is item code and “--D0” is the version of
the item.

 Ex-Nokia Based RNC, Core Units

 This item codes always starts with either “C” or “P”( like P01043.A05 or C74920.H6E)
 This type of codes always comes with version information when reading done by
barcode reader.
 This codes are always 6 alphanumeric characters and characters after the 6th figure is
always the version information.
 Version should be always manually cut and paste to “Hardware Version” field.( figures
with and after the dot)
 In the example of P01043.A05, “P01043” is the item code and “A05” is the version. In
the example of C74920.H6E, “C74920” is the item code and “H6E” is the version.

 Tellabs Based Transmission Units

 This item codes always starts with “E” ( Like E35790.35)


 This type of codes always contains 9 alphanumeric characters.
 This type of items does not have version information. Users have to write “N/A”
manually into “hardware version” field for this kind of items in Failure report field 4.

 Ex-Nokia Based Base Station/NodeB units

 This item codes always starts with number and ends with letter (Like 082849A.103 or
470156A.107 or 993889A)
 This type of unit’s codes always contains 7 alphanumeric characters and always ends
with letter.
 They usually contains version information however passive items like cables, panels
and some other mechanical parts might not contain version information.
 User need to enter “N/A” manually into “Hardware Version” field in case item does not
have any version information otherwise version needs to be cut and paste into version
field manually.
 In the example of 082849A.103, “082849A” is the item code and “103” is the version. In
the example of 470156.107, “470156A” is the item code and “107” is the version.

 Symmetricom Based Time provider Units

 This item codes always starts with prefix “TUM:” and continuous with either 3 or 4
number groups. (Like TUM:090-50331-01 or TUM:121-20621-12-2)
 This type of items does not have version information. Users have to write “N/A”
manually into “hardware version” field for this kind of items in Failure report field 4.

 Ex-Siemens Based HiT based Units

 This item codes always start with either “S” or “V” and contains 3 alphanumeric groups.
(Like S42024-L5470-A1-1)
 These codes might come without version information as result of barcode reading.
 In case the item code comes with version information embedded in then it’s alwaysthe
4th group is the version which needs to be cut and paste into “Hardware Version” field
manually. In
the example of S42024-L5470-A1-1, “S42024-L5470-A1” is the item code and “-1” is
the version. In case of example of S42024-L5459-A1, there is no version in the code
and “S42024-L5459-A1” is the code itself.

 Marconi Based Transmission Units

 This item codes always contains numbers and the format is always nnn-nnn/nn
(n=number, a= alpha), consist of 2 numeric groups. (Like 131-9069/51)
 This type of items does not have version information. Users have to write “N/A”
manually into “hardware version” field for this kind of items in Failure report field 4

 Ex-Siemens based SRL Transmission Units

 This item codes contains numbers and the format is always nnn-nnn/nn_nnn , consist
of 3 numeric groups (like 735-211/15_011-XX)

 This type of codes always comes with version information which is usually last group
and usually they are “-XX”. Users have to cut “-XX” the version info and paste it to
“Hardware Version” field in Failure report part 4.
 In the example of 735-211/15_011-XX, “735-211/15_011” is the item code and “-XX”
is the version.

 DWDM Equipment

 Some codes starts with S and this item code contains letters and number and are
divided in 4 groups, like: S42024-L5439-A100-14. The last group (-14) is the version.
 The codes starting with V is containing 3 groups and do not have a version.

 Juniper Equipment

 This item code allways starts with either JUI: or JNP: and contains both letters and
numbers. The item codes are without versions. Example of two item codes is:
JNP:PWR960-4100DCS and JUI:PC-1OC192-SON-VSR.

1. Logging into the system

 Open your web browser and enter address below address.(It’s recommended to
bookmark this address)
https://www.nsnspm.com/NSNSPM

 Enter your user name and password that will be sent/issued by NSN Admin/s.
 Please conntact to nsn-spm.tool-support@nsn.com in case if you need new user
credentials or training for the tool.

2. Creating new Failure Report

 Press “New Failure Report” in main menu and follow below instructions step by step.

Filling in the replacement unit information is optional for Swap or Repair and
Return services.

FR copy (with FR number created by system in case "N/A" used in Report no) will
be sent to reported by e-mail to user after Failure report submitted.

3. Sending a Faulty item to NSN Country


Warehouse(CWH)

“Send Faulty Item“ and “Upload Send Faulty Item“ function in SPM Service
tool can be used to keep track of the faulty deliveries from users/Operator‘s
warehouses to NSN Warehouse. This function is optional to use as the
Faulty items received by NSN will be entered to SPM tool as well however it’s
recomended to register faulty deliveries in SPM Service tool

 To have full track of faulty deliveries from user to NSN warehouse.


 To notify NSN for incoming faulty item
 To let NSN track the faulty return deliveries incase if delays or other problems
occures.

“Send Faulty item“ function can be found under “Warehouses“ link in main menu
and can be done in two options.

Option 1 “Send Faulty Item“ is for registering faulty shipment per each faulty item
sent to NSN.

Option 2 “Upload Send Faulty Item“ is for regitering faulty shipment having mass
quantitiy of faulty items (For instance for operators who are consolidating thier
faulty items and making weekly deliveries where more then 10 faulty units can be
sent in one shipment)

Click on “Sent faulty item“ under Warehouses and follow below instructions.

Tool will automatically bring the item detials after the FR selection is done:

3.2 Option 2 “Upload Send Faulty Item“


A csv(comma separated value) file can be uploaded to register faulty deliveries to NSN
incase if there are mass quantitiy of units in one shipment. The format/data structure of
csv file to be uploaded should be in following order.

1st column should contain Failure report RMA number(take from FR)

2nd column should have waybill/tracking number

3rd column should have shipment sent date in dd/MM/yyyy format

4th column should have sent time in HH:mm format

Like below sample; In this sample a header row used and “,“ Comma used as separator.

Follow below instruction to upload the file after prepared.

4. Spare Part Request/SPR


SPR is used when you need to order a spare part that is not in stock.

This function is not to be used for ordering new spare parts to be stored in the
warehouse permanently(Please inform NSN HWS Coordinator in case if you have
such spare request to be stored in your location permanently). SPR function is
just to be used when there is a work order requesting a spare part that is normally
not in stock in this warehouse or there is a temporary shortage of the item.

NOTE! In case of emergency you always have to follow up with a phone call to
OMC (phone number will be notified by tool in case emergency service
requested)

Choose: ”Warehouses” and then ”Spare Part Request”

5. Return of non used Good units

Please use this function in case if the good unit you received against your SPR
not been used and needs to be return back to NSN.(In case of wrong dignose, or
the fault still goes on after changing the good unit on site, etc…)

6. Searching for an item in Warehouse/s

Incase you need to search for a spare item in other warehouse/s you can perform this search as
instructed below.

Click “Search Warehouses” under “Warehouse” menu

7. Spare Part Transfer Between Warehouses

Incase it has been decided to move a spare part permanently or temporally, you can perform this
action as instructed below.

8. Warehouse Return

This process needs to be used, in case that spare part replaced on site but the
problem/alarm still continues which indicates that the unit taken out from site is
not faulty and needs to be returned back to related warehouse as spare.

Example; item 00035485.DV01 with SR:R2509947 was the spare part taken out
from WH15 and installed/left on site.

Item 00035485.DV01 with SR:3S0094533 the item taken out from the site and
returned to the WH15.

In order to process this action in SPM tool,

Click on “Move Warehouse Item” under “Warehouses” in main menu and follow
below instructions.
