Website Audit Checklist

1. Domain Checkup

A) Valid SSL Certificate

B) Site’s Delivery via HTTP

C) HTTP redirected to HTTPS

D) WWW version redirected to non-WWW or vice versa

2. Robots file checkup

A) robots.txt file must have correct name

B) robots.txt file must be in root folder

C) All instructions must be valid

D) Don’t block asset folder

E) Include XML sitemap’s URL in robots.txt file.

3. XML Sitemap file checkup

A) XML sitemap file must be valid

i. Not more than 50 MB in size

ii. Not more than 50,000 links in one xml file

B) XML sitemap file must be accessible

C) All valid pages must be in XML sitemap

4. Google Link Checkup

A) Verify your root domain in Google Search Console

B) Link your Google Analytics account to your website

C) Add any other Google/Search Engine property to your website

5. Page Quality Checkup

A) Page Title/Meta Title

i. It must be unique for each page

ii. It must be between 285 – 575 pixel in length

B) Page Meta Description

i. It must be unique for each page

ii. It must be between 430 – 920 pixels in length

C) Use canonical tag on pages with same content

D) Use heading tags appropriately

E) Use open graph tags

i. og title must be less than 60 characters

ii. og description must be less than 65 characters

iii. og image must be more than 1200 pixels in width

F) Use twitter cards

iii. Twitter card image must be more than 1200 pixels in width
