PRESERVATION OF INTERNAL NEW AMINE TANK USING CORTEC (VpCI Bag -609)
TEP-MS-AJU 004-REV 01

1. PURPOSE AND SCOPE

To provide guidance on use of CORTEC VpCI Bag-609 to preservation of internal New Amine Tank after Blasting.
This method statement apply is purposed to prevent the corrossion of steel internal New Amine Tank which is
executed by PT. ANTA JAYA UTAMA (AJU) for TANGGUH EXPANSION PROJECT.
2. METHOD DESCRIPTIONS

This method consists of cleaning the dust, washing by water inside tank , spreeding the CORTEC VpCI Bag-609
along the area internal New Amine Tank as per manufacturing recommendation.
According to Product data sheet VpCI Bag as attachment 1 below. The VpCI Bag is easy to use, Just determine
the correct number of bags per unit space (Each Bag protects up to 1m3). When the bag is removed, the tank is
ready for application. There is no need to remove the protective VpCI film.

4. PERSONEL
Healty personnel is required to conduct the preservation during spreeding the VpCI Bag with complete weared
the APD, according to Confined Space Work Procedure, minmum 2 personnel is required.

6. APPLICATION
6.1. Area Preparation
- Clean and Dry the area to be preserved (Internal /Inside of Tank) from the dust and water.
- Close all vent, Nozzle on the Roof and Shell.
- Open all Man Hole front and back side.
6.2. Spreeding
- Open the top cover of can using small screw driver or small hammer
- Take out the plastic bag from the can
- Open the plastic bag
-Take out the material COSTEC VpCI bag -609 every single bag (330 grams) from plastic bag.
- Put and Spreeding the CORTEC VpCI Bag 330 grams on the top of bottom plate
- Put until complete quantity as per calculate of space area inside/internal New Amine Tank as below data:
1 bag (330 grams) = 1 M3
0.33kg = 1 M3
Volume of tank = 1352M3
So Quantity to be used is : 1352 M3 x 0.33 kg = 446,6 Kg or 1352 bags.
- Leave its until further service of Tank

6. SAFETY CONSIDERATION

 Using Standard APD for confine space

 Avoid contact with skin and eyes
 Wear protective gloves and eye protection during work
 If skin contact occurs, wash skin thoroughly
 If in eyes, hold eyes open, flood with warm water and seek medical attention without delay
