the ISO 2859 attribute sampling system
(f) ISO 6892: Metallic materials - Tensile testing at ambient temperature

2.2 Alternative standards

The supplier may propose alternative standards provided it is proven that it gives an
equivalent degree of quality as applicable standards. But the acceptance of the alternative
standard is limited to GECOL for approval.

2.3 Precedence of standards

In case of discrepancy between this specification and any of the applicable standards, the
following order of precedence shall apply:
(a) Technical specification of GECOL
(b) Applicable standards
(c) Accepted alternative standards

3 Definition

3.1 Classification
One direction can be used for single crossarm or D-iron and two direction be used for
double crossarms or D-iron.

3.2 Minimum breaking strength

Minimum load specified by the purchaser or declared by the supplier at which
mechanical failure will not take place.

3.3 Lot
A group of articles offered for acceptance from the same manufacturer, of the same
design and manufactured under presumed similar conditions of production. One or more
lots may be offered together for acceptance; the lot(s) offered may consist of the whole, or
part, of the quantity ordered

5 Requirements
Bands shall comply with the physical and mechanical requirements as follows.
All dimension and requirements of bands shall conform to Figure 1 and 2 of this
specification and shall be suitable for assembling each other.

5.1 Material
The body of band shall be made from steel of good quality in accordance with ISO 630
or over equivalent.
The bolts and nuts shall be made from steel of good quality in accordance with ISO 898-
1 or over equivalent.

5.2 Mechanical property

Minimum tensile strength of steel for body shall not be less than 410 N/mm2.
When in state of installation on the pole the band is weighted vertically with the
minimum breaking strength of Table 1 of this specification at the point of attaching brace
for 3 minutes, no crack or deformation in all area of band.
Also when the body is stretched flat, there is no crack or deformation in a body.
The bolts and nuts shall not be less than ISO 4.8 grade and minimum tensile strength of

5/12
steel shall be not less than 420 N/mm2.

5.3 Hot-dip galvanizing

Bands shall be hot-dip galvanized in accordance with ISO 1460. The mean coating mass
shall be not less than 610g/m2, but the bolts and nuts with thread shall be not less than 395
g/m2 in accordance with ISO 1461.
The surface shall be smooth and free from blemishes and any protrusion.

5.4 Design requirements

The bands specified in this specification shall meet the following design considerations:
(a) The bands shall be consisted of body, bolts and nuts for tightening the body, bolts and
nuts for attaching the brace or D-iron.
(b) The bolts and nuts for tightening the body shall be M16 and have enough length so as
to accommodate the diameter of band from minimum to maximum specified in Table
1 of this specification. The bolts and nuts for attaching the brace or D-iron shall be
M16 of square head.
(c) The part to be connected the bolt on body shall be reinforced by a steel plate or
equivalent material and the reinforcing method shall be used the electric welding.
(d) Dimensional tolerance in which the tolerance is not specified shall be ±0.7mm for up
to and including 35mm in dimension and over 35mm, ±2%.

6 Tests
All bands are to be checked for compliance with this specification and with the ordering
quantity. GECOL reserves the rights to ask for tests to confirm the quality of bands in the
presence of GECOL representatives.
All test reports of the below defined and executed tests shall be submitted to GECOL for
approval within one week after the completion of the tests.

6.1 Sampling
Test specimens shall be selected at random from each inspection lot (or articles) in
accordance with ISO 2859-1. The number of samples selected from each lot shall comply
with Table 2 of this specification.
