weight (W), density, specific weight and specific gravity.
2. A body requires a force of 100N to accelerate it at 0.20 m/s2. Determine the mass of the body in
kilograms and in slug.
3.A reservoir of carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) has a mass of 500 kg and a volume of 0.315 m3. Find
the carbon tetrachloride weight, mass density, specific weight, and specific gravity
4. The weight of a body is 100 lb. Determine (a) its weight in Newton’s, (b) its mass in kilograms,
and (c) the rate of acceleration in feet per second per second (ft/s2) and meters per meters per
second (m/s2) if a net force of 500 lb is applied to the body.
5. The specific gravity of ethyl alcohol is 0.79. Calculate its specific weight (in both pounds per
cubic foot and kilonewton per cubic meter), and mass density (in both slugs per cubic foot and
kilograms per cubic meter).
6.A quart of water weights about 2.08 lb. Compute its mass in slugs and in kilograms
7. One cubic foot of glycerin has a mass of 2.44 slugs. Fins its specific weight in both pounds per
cubic foot and kilonewton per cubic meter.
8. A quart of SAE 30 oil at 68°F weighs about 1.85 lb. Calculate the oils specific weight, mass,
density and specific gravity.
9.The volume of a rock is found to be 0.00015m3. If the rocks specific gravity is 2.60, what is its
weight?
