4. TO DEFINE DEFINITIONS:
CERTAIN TERMS Pro-life: Prolife means opposed to the belief that a

Foetus: foetus is defined as unborn offspring which is
developed from the embryo. Foetal development starts
after 9 weeks of conception.
Embryo: embryo is the early stage of the development
after conception. Embryonic development begins just after
fertilization and last up to 9 weeks after conception.
Birth control: it is the practice of preventing unwanted
pregnancy by use of contraception.
Genetic disorder: a genetic disorder is a medical
condition which is caused by abnormalities in DNA.
Legal abortion: The Medical Termination of
Pregnancy act 1971
According to it in India pregnancy can be
terminated under a broad range of circumstances
up to 20 weeks of gestation as;
When continuation of pregnancy is a risk to the
life of the mother or could cause severe injuries to
her physical or mental health.
When there is substantial risk that the child, if
born or dead would be seriously handicapped due
to physical or mental abnormalities.
When pregnancy is caused due to rape (presumed
to cause grave injury to the mental health of the
women.
When pregnancy is caused due to failure of
contraceptives used by a married women or her
husband.
Unwed mother or teenage pregnancy.
