Surah AL- BAQARAH Ayat 183-184

Arabic Text: Qur'an 2:183-184

‫يأيحاالذين ءامنواگتب عليگم الصيام گماگتب علي الذين من قبلگم لعلگم تتقون* أيامامعدودات فمن گن منگم مريضاأوعلي‬
‫وأنتصومواخيرلگم إن گنتم تعلمون‬،‫*سفرفعدةمن أيام أخر وعليالذين يطيقونهفريةطعام مسگين فمن تطوع خيرافحوخيرله‬

English Translation:

Quran 2.183-184 O you who believe! Fasting is prescribed for you, as it was prescribed
for those before you, that you may become righteous. For a specified number of days.
But whoever among you is sick, or on a journey, then a number of other days. For those
who are able: a ransom of feeding a needy person. But whoever volunteers goodness, it
is better for him. But to fast is best for you, if you only knew.

Scientific Explanation

Fasting turned out to have medical benefits. Dr.Toshinori Ohsumi discovered

underlying mechanism of a physiological process called autophagy. Autophagy is a
natural process by which the body degrades and recycles damaged cells, proteins and
toxins. This is the body's way of cleaning house. It happens during starvation,calorie
restriction and fasting. Autopsy is one method that the body uses to naturally neutralize
cancer cells and degrade cells infected by harmful bacteria and viruses.

In Islam, Allah(S.W.T) stated the importance of fasting, Fasting is an obligation. Every

individual need to fast during the month of Ramada. It was discovered by scientists that
it helps in everyones health but in Islam, it was already stated not only in health but
also the mind, faith and social relationships on how to reflect on the feelings of
unleashed or the poor ones.
