Cement Industry: 1914-2019
Today, the Indian cement industry is 105 years old, just 25 years younger than the Chinese
cement industry, which is now 130 years old. India today has 105 cement companies, 279
major cement plants and an aggregate cement capacity of about 540 MTPA. With this, India
is the second largest cement producer in the world, the first being China, which has an
estimated cement capacity of over 3330 MTPA.
At present, the Indian cement industry
is spread all over the country, from
north to south and east to west

ACQUISITIONS & MERGERS

Acquisitions & Mergers

from 1936 to 2019
Industrial Chronicle has made an effort to compile all the acquisitions and mergers of
cement companies and cement plants in India since 1936 onwards. There is a possibility
of missing some companies/plants as their data was not available. However, from 1970s
onward, over 95 per cent of the acquisitions and mergers have been covered. ‒ Editor
