Reaction Paper #3

The school I am currently connected with if I may say is young for its years and is still in
the development stage. To say development stage because the school has yet to have a system
and a program that is proven and tested. It is quite the challenge for me to handle such a task.
As I have been given the position to develop the academics part of the school, I did what I saw
fit and right for the school in accordance with its vision and mission without knowing that all
along, If I were to describe what model I used in planning such a task from among the models
that I read it I would say I am following the DEVELOPMENT PLANNING PROCESS MODEL.

Development and planning process model have 8 steps the first step is Situational
analysis. Every time I want to implement something, I always analyze the situation if the
situation needs improvement or is it already up to standards. What is my basis if it is up to
standards? This is where step two of the model comes in which is Goal/Objective/target setting,
base on the vision and mission of the school I determine if the current situation is in line to the
direction and goal that the school wants to achieve and base on the analysis, I choose which
step to choose. From here choosing how I execute such steps will be determined with the
school policy and what kind of program I want to fix or improve the current situation that is
how step 3 of the model for me is applied “Policy/strategy formulation”. For the fourth step of
the model, it is called “program/project identification” as mentioned before base on the
situation, goal, and policy a program that is to be implemented is decided. And upon choosing
the best idea for a program to be implemented I as a person within the private sector needs to
secure investment which is the fifth step of the model. Finding investment for the program that
I have chosen is important as it will give me the working money that will determine how the
budget will be distributed in implementing a said program within this model. The sixth step is
budgeting, any program that involves money must have a budget planning so not to waste and
keep track of how the money is spent. Now we move to the seventh step of the model, which is
the implementation and monitoring, it is not enough to just tell people what to do or to lay it
out to them what their specific tasks is. If you want to improve the current situation and make
sure that the program you are implementing is doing good then during the implementation you
have to keep monitoring of the status of every aspect of the program, this is so that you can
quickly adapt to any unforeseen problems you may encounter and last but not the least the
eighth step of the Development Planning Process model is the “Evaluation and plan update”.
When we monitor and implement a program it is always a good idea to see if what you have
done is in need of improvement or if it is doing bad that is why it is important to keep updated
on the things that are happening within your work place and within the people around you.
