CAUSE AND EFFECT OF MIGRATION

Nowadays, city becomes more congested and hotter. The number of trees is declined than
before, and conversely, the number of vehicle is increasing. Many factors causing this, but the
popular one is due to migration. From my perspective, people move to the city without pay
attention to whether they have skills or not for facing city challenge. People move to the city to
get better education, amenities, or maybe for reasons of marriage. This give negative impacts
such as increasingly dirty air, many slums area, and crime.

In fact, many people do migration for many things. The most common thing is about job,
people go to city to find better job than what they got in their village. People think, in city it is
easier to get job with good amenities. People also go to city to get better education, because
education in village is limited especially university which only exists in the city. At village, the
education level provided is from kindergarten school up to senior high. Another reason why
people move to the city is for marriage, it is not too common but there are particular people
having this reason. The reason for marriage is usually more dominated by village women. They
think if getting married with man from the city they will move and settle in the city following
their husband and have better life. Overall, people go to the city because they want to have better
life like jobs and marriage, while live in village is mediocre.

In fact, migration has several negative impacts on the city. First and foremost, the city
becomes overpopulation because many people move to it. There are many slums area which are
usually created by those who fail to achieve their objectives in the city. Overpopulation causes
other effects in the city, like crime. People who finally give up their luck try to find the fastest
way to get money. The answer is to commit a crime, they do not hesitate to steal and take what is
not their right. Another effect caused by overpopulation is traffic congestion. The number of
private vehicle increases because people want to reach their destination fast and do not want to
use public transportation, so they use a private vehicle that makes the air become dirty.
Consequently, the road becomes so jammed and the air is polluted, which can harm urban
citizen’s respiration. Overall, many bad effects occur in the city because people migrate to the
city and it gives disadvantages for city.

To sum up, the main cause why city more congested is the migration that people do
without pay attention to their skills. People who want to go to city must pay attention to whether
they have skills or not, they should not only go to city and create slums because they cannot face
the city challenge.
