1. Understand techniques to gather
information in preparation for
writing
1.1 Critically select and synthesise information for a set
purpose from three different sources making notes in
the following styles:
a) Linear
b) Diagrammatic, such as mind mapping

1.2 Evaluate the results

2. Plan for a written assignment 2.1 Produce a detailed, well-organised plan on a

complex subject

3. Produce a written assignment 3.1 Write an assignment that:

a) Appropriately answers the question
b) Uses a standard format of structure and
organisation
c) Uses appropriate language with grammatical and
mechanical accuracy
d) Is coherent and comprehensible, clear and
concise
e) Presents and interprets findings logically
f) Evaluates findings in relation to the aims and
previous research/relevant theory – where
appropriate
g) References source material using an accepted
system
