DYNAMICS
• Group: A collection of two or more individuals and interdependent, who
have come together to achieve particular objectives.
• A social unit of two or more individuals who have in common a set of
beliefs and values follow the same norms and works for an establishing
common aim.
• GROUP DYNAMICS: is a system of behaviours and psychological processes
occurring within a social group (intragroup dynamics),or between social
groups (intergroup dynamics).
• The study of group dynamics can be useful in
a) understanding decision-making behaviour,
b) tracking the spread of diseases in society
c) Creating effective therapy techniques
d) Popularity of new ideas and technologies

Types of social group
according to the nature of social ties

Social group: is a collection of human beings who are brought into


social relationship with one another with a common goal under a
common set of code because man is social animal and he lives in a
social group.

Types of social group:


Primary group: is the nucleus of all the social organizations. It’s a group
of a small member of persons who come into direct contact with each
other.
Example: family, basketball team a couple etc.
They meet face to face with the of helping each other mutually and for
companionship an discussion of common goals.
Primary group are also the key means of socialization in society .
Secondary group
The secondary group: is alarge group like a city, nation, political
party, corporation and labour union etc. Here contacts among
the members are limited in the scope and established after
much trial and error towards individual's goals.
Elements of the secondary group:
• formal and impersonal relationship.
• Large in size
• Option of membership
• Active and inactive members
• Formal rules
• Goals oriented

1. In-group: feel strong identification loyalty with the members of their
own groups different, either culturally.

2. Out-group: is a group or category to which people feel they do not


belong

3. Reference group: is a group or category to which people use


as a standard in evaluating or understanding themselves, their attitude,
and their behaviour
