Shortlisted Candidates for PhD Admissions in Civil Engineering for Feb 2021

School of Engineering had called applications for the PhD program in Civil Engineering.
The minimum qualifications for applying to PhD Civil Engineering programs in School of
Engineering at IIT Mandi were advertised in the institute website.

The following candidates are shortlisted for the online interview/written test or both. The
shortlisting criteria for each specialization were given before the shortlist. Shortlisted
candidates are requested to appear for the interview/written test or both as per the schedule
given below:

Kindly check your name in the attached list. If you are sure that you have submitted
the complete application form and you satisfy the shortlisting criteria contact the SE
admissions (se_admissions@iitmandi.ac.in)with the relevant proof for your claims. Your
candidature will not be considered for admission if you do not meet the shortlisting
criteria even though your name is in shortlist. Your admission will get cancel in such
case. We will be approaching you through E – mail id: se_admissions@iitmandi.ac.in for
the login details for online interviews.

 GATE syllabus will be considered for the written test, if any.

Shortlisting criteria for PhD in Structural Engineering

1. B.E./B.Tech. in Civil Engineering with minimum

(a) 65% Aggregate or 7.0 CGPA for General/OBC/EWS candidate

(b) 60% Aggregate or 6.5 CGPA for SC/ST candidate.
(c) Candidate applying directly Ph.D after UG Degree must have minimum 90%
Aggregate or 9.5 CGPA with institute/university UG rank ≤ 5 (Rank document has to
be submitted as mentioned in the advertisement)
2. M. Tech in Structural Engineering or related areas with minimum
(a) 65% Aggregate or 7.0 CGPA for General/OBC/EWS candidate
(b) 60% Aggregate or 6.5 CGPA for SC/ST candidate.
3. Valid GATE score in Civil Engineering with minimum
a. 550 GATE score for General/OBC/EWS candidate
b. 500 GATE score for SC/ST
4. Considered first choice of specialisation as “Structural Engineering”

Systems
1. M.E./ M.Tech./ MSc in Remote Sensing/ Geomatics/ Disaster mitigation/ Earthquake
Engineering/ Geology/ Computer Science/ Environmental Engineering/ Water
Resource Engineering or related areas with minimum

(a) 75% Aggregate or 7.5 CGPA for General/OBC/EWS candidate

(b) 70% Aggregate or 7.0 CGPA for SC/ST candidate.
2. Qualified GATE/ UGC-NET/JRF at least once in academic career.
3. Candidate applying after UG Degree must have > 9.25 CGPA and a certificate stating
candidate among top 5% of the University* (Rank document must be submitted as
mentioned in the advertisement) with a valid GATE score.
