SCENARIO
A320 Pilot Incapacitation

- The Flight SGN – ICN, VJ 000

- During cruising, First officer is incapacitated due to medical problem.
Requirements:
1. Cabin crew performs normal flight. Follow SOP.
2. During cruising, First officer is incapacitated due to medical problem. Captain takes control the aircraft then :
 Capt gives command “Purser to flight deck”
 All cabin crew stop their normal duties then return to cabin crew station and wait for further instructions
 P1 return to FWD CC station , call captain and request to enter flight deck
3. When identifying first officer being incapacitated :
 P1 will carry out steps to support incapacitated pilot
 P2, P3, P4 standby in cabin
 All cabin crew will co-operate to handle this situation

Technical Performance

a) RESPOND TO CALL FROM THE FLIGHT DECK
- [P4, P3,P2 do their service duties in cabin]
- When hearing commands from flight deck :
“PURSER TO FLIGHT DECK”
- [P1 return to FWD CC station and call captain to request permission to
enter flight deck :
“NAME, POSITION, PASSWORD, REASON”
- [P2,P3, P4 stop doing service and back to their CC station]
- Standby for emergency situation
- Control the cabin
- Prevent passengers get panic by any wrong answering
b) SUPPORT INCAPACITATED PILOT
- Lift the incapacitated pilot upright, move arms and legs away from the
controls
- Check breathing for life
- Secure the incapacitated pilot to the seat by using shoulder harness
and seatbelt
- Slide the seat rearward and sideward
- Apply quick donning mask (select Emergency mode)
- Recline the seatback for more comfortable and easily breath
- Loosen necktie or collar if necessary
- Render first aid and look for support from cabin
c) OTHER CABIN CREW DUTIES
After receiving pilot incapacitation information from P1:
- Call back up from other crew station to monitoring FWD cabin area

- Close the curtain before entering flight deck

- Take portable oxygen bottle
- Request to enter the flight deck
- Move the pilot to cabin if need to render further first aid
- Observe forward area
- Enter flight deck when seeing other crew move incapacitated pilot out
to remain 02 persons in flight deck
- Observe aft area
d) LOOKING FOR OTHER SUPPORTS:
Looking for doctor
- PA
- Action
Looking for a type qualified pilot
- PA

- Support to render first aid
- Report to Pilot Flying about the situation of incapacitated pilot
e) ADDITIONAL ACTIONS
