Essay

As I grow, I have many involvement and participation in different social groups. My family and friends influences me a
lot because they are so close to me and I see them every day. They influence good and bad things to me, but I am most likely
into myself. They are the reason of who I am today. They teach me some ethics and values which I absorb some of it because
some are blocking me to be myself. Actually, my attitudes are not influenced my someone because I obtained it by reading
books and watching dramas.

WHAT I HAVE LEARNED

1. According to Britannica.com, Social Group is any set of human beings who either are, recently have been, or
anticipate being in some kind of interrelation. The term group, or social group, has been used to designate many
kinds of aggregations of humans. Aggregations of two members and aggregations that include the total population of
a large nation-state have been called groups.

2. I prefer social media friends as my preference because they are not my close friends and I never met them. But the
way I interact with them in different platform of social media is like a close one for me.

3. According to Wikipedia, in-group is a social group to which a person psychologically identifies as being a member.
While out-group is a social group with which an individual does not identify. People may for example identify with
their group, peer, family, community, political party, sports team, religion, gender or nation. Their difference is take
an example in a football stadium. The people who is inside the stadium are in-group because they are the football
fans while the outside of the stadium are out-group because they are not fans of football.

4. Primary group are small group who is intimate and are sometimes you see every day. Their relationship is long lasting
while in secondary group are large group of people whose relationships are temporary, impersonal and goal oriented.
Some secondary groups may last for many years, though most are short term.

5. According to Wikipedia, social group is a social structure made up of a set of social actors (such as individuals or
organizations), sets of dyadic ties, and other social interactions between actors. The social network perspective
provides a set of methods for analyzing the structure of whole social entities as well as a variety of theories explaining
the patterns observed in these structures.[1] The study of these structures uses social network analysis to identify
local and global patterns, locate influential entities, and examine network dynamics.
ANSWERS:

1. Based on my observations, some friends I’m close with are members of an organization in school, organization in my
barangay, or sacristan in church.

2. The impact of social media on the existing groups of the society:


 They develop knowledge by simply interact with other social media friends
 More people are emotional
 More people are unhealthy
 They believe on what they saw in social media
