Each enzyme has a specific shape to match the substrate if its shape doesn’t match. If the
shape changes, it will no longer able to bind to substrate, therefore it becomes inactive.

increase gradually from 10 ºC to 30 ºC. Explain your answer.
The rate of the reaction will increase – molecules are moving faster as they warm up so
they are most likely to interact. Human enzymes work best at temperatures close to the human
body temperature. It is obvious because they are meant for human or generally speaking
mammalian systems.
22. What most likely happens to the rate of reaction of a human enzyme when the temperature is
increased gradually from 40 ºC to 90 ºC. Explain your answer.
The rate reaction fall and possibly stop working. this is because i changes the shape of the
enzymes. It quickly drops off because at higher temperatures, the proteins become denatured and
won’t be able to work or function.
