INTRODUCTION:
The Highly Immersive Programme (HIP) was introduced by Ministry of Education in
2016 with the aim to create a highly immersive, language-rich environment that
promotes the use of English in all schools. This key initiative is critical in preparing
Malaysian pupils to live and work productively in a globalised world where the lingua
franca is English. Through the HIP, pupils are exposed to the English Language
through a variety of activities within and beyond the classroom.

OBJECTIVES:
✓ To involve and immerse pupils in an English-rich environment as a first step in
achieving the objectives of instilling interest and awareness among the
pupils;
✓ To develop a highly immersive English Language environment in school;
✓ To increase pupil participation in English Language activities;
✓ To increase pupil proficiency in the English Language through extended
usage;
✓ To create a conducive environment for teachers and pupils to communicate
in English.

RATIONALE:
There is a need to initiate a highly immersive English-rich environment in schools in
order to ensure that every individual is competent in the use of the language. By
allowing a highly language-rich environment to be developed for the pupils, they are
deliberately and recurrently exposed to the English Language through a variety of
activities of high-quality linguistic output both within and beyond the classroom.

TARGETTED GROUP:
All pupils of Sekolah Kebangsaan Kampung Buloh.

CLOSURE
