1. The following isomeric reactions with species B as desired product are as follows.

𝐴→𝐵→𝐶

The 𝐴→𝐵 reaction is second order with reaction constant of 0.2 dm3/mol.min and 𝐵→𝐶
is first order with reaction constant of 0.01 min-1.

The reactions are to be performed in CSTR with diameter of 5m. The feed stream with
10 L/min with initial concentration of A is 2 mol/dm3. The product stream flowrate is
controlled by valve, resulted in flow correlation of liquid height in the reactor as
𝐹𝑜𝑢𝑡𝑙𝑒𝑡 = 𝛼√ℎ, with α is a constant of 4.472 L/min.m1/2. At t = 0, the liquid height
inside the reactor is 1.5m, the outlet valve is just to be open and the reaction just starting
to occur. Plot the process changes over time with time step of 1 min from t = 0 to steady
state using
a) Euler’s method
b) Runge-Kutta 4th Order method

2. The outlet stream of the above CSTR is then fed to flash separator with operational
pressure of 95 kPa. Given that vapor pressure of component A, B and C at the
operation condition are 120 kPa, 80 kPa, and 110 kPa, respectively. Calculate the
mole flowrates, liquid and vapor mole fraction of streams exiting the equilibrium
flash at steady state.
