7 REVIEW OF LITERATURE

SaeedSamiee (2010) this study critically examines referencing and channels of distribution
considerations in developing countries. It is comprised of a comprehensive review of the
literature and integrates the fragmented body of knowledge in the area. Nine research
propositions are offered that can guide hypothesis generation for future research. Research
priorities and managerial implications are discussed.

R.P. Mohanty (2011) India as a sovereign democratic republic during the last half-century
has made very significant progress in political front. Democracy has matured. Economic
development/progress has taken place, but the progression curve is not similar to any other
developed democratic nation. There are myriad of reasons for slow economic progression.
Indian corporate sector has already entered into the process of large-scale liberalization and
globalization. This process is in inexorable and irreversible. It is not the purpose of this paper
to discuss the historical background of Indian slow growth. The intention here is primarily to
elaborate only ―why, what and how‖ of building the knowledge-based corporate sectors in the
ever expanding competitive landscape in a boundary less world.

Ashish Agarwal (2012) Agility is the fundamental characteristic of a supply chain needed
for survival in turbulent and volatile markets, which are becoming norms as product life
cycles shorten and environmental forces create additional uncertainty resulting in higher risk
in the food industry. Agility further helps in providing the right product, at the right time to
the consumer, which is the main objective of any supply chain. In the present paper, using
interpretive structural modeling, interrelationships of the variables, influencing supply chain
agility, have been derived. These variables have been categorized according to their driving
power and dependence.

Mary C. Lambkin (2013) Every acquisition provokes a branding decision—should the

acquirer absorb the acquired business by renaming it under its own name to convey to the
market that ownership and the way of doing business has changed, or should it allow the
acquired Food industry to continue trading under its old name so as to avoid damage to its
existing customer franchise? This is a complex management decision but one which
apparently receives little attention. This paper draws on the B2B branding and M&A

26
literatures to create a model of brand equity transfer. The model assumes that rebranding of
an acquired company under the name of the new parent can yield positive benefits if the new
parent has higher brand equity than the acquired company.

Margee Hume (2014) the concept of developing sustainable consumption practices has been
a factor for discussion within academic literature for nearly half a decade. Many have argued
the consequences of unmonitored consumption practices within a ‗throw-away‘ society
would lead to environmental, social and economic degeneration. With consumption no longer
hindered by global boundaries, there is an emergence of a common class of people within
society consuming in vast amounts, over great distances from one another, and reaps
irreparable environmental damage. The onus of developing sustainable practice is no longer
the sole responsibility of economies of affluence and specific segments of our economy but
has become the responsibility of all stakeholders. Using a triangulated qualitative approach,
the aim of this research is to advance our understanding and definition of sustainability in the
key stakeholder group: The young consumers, Y generation. The research will focus on
understanding their consumption footprints and their view of the notion of sustainability.
Implications for social changes, policy and practice will also be presented.

MarielleChristiansened al (2015) this paper considers a maritime inventory routing problem

faced by a major Food producer. A heterogeneous fleet of bulk ships transport multiple non-
mixable Food products from producing factories to regional silo stations along the coast of
Norway. Inventory constraints are present both at the factories and the silos, and there are
upper and lower limits for all inventories. The ship fleet capacity is limited, and in peak
periods the demand for Food products at the silos exceeds the fleet capacity. In addition,
constraints regarding the capacity of the ships‘ cargo holds, the depth of the ports and the fact
that different Food products cannot be mixed must be taken into consideration. A
construction heuristic embedded in a genetic algorithmic framework is developed.

Suraksha Gupta (2016) Sustainability research highlights new challenges and opportunities
for businesses. This paper reviews the literature to understand the ability of sustainable green
initiatives when practiced as a corporate culture to individually create new opportunities for
operations, management and marketing. According to current research, business opportunities
exclusively available to different functions of a firm can drive its performance. The role of
marketing in the achievement of superior performance by virtue of sustainability practices is
also explained by the existing literature. Branding literature, however, fails to explain the

27
influence of a brand on sustainability-driven opportunities available to a
firm for superior performance.

K. Mathiyazhaganed all (2017) as customers are becoming more

environmental conscious and governments are making stricter
environmental regulations, the industries need to reduce the environmental
impact of their supply chain. Indian auto component manufacturing
industries especially SMEs (Small and Medium Enterprises) are focused
to cleaner production by implementing Green Food industry (GFD) in
their industries. But they are struggling to implement GFD concept. The
present research analyzes the barriers for the implementation of GFD
concept which has been divided into two phases such as identification of
barriers and qualitative analysis of Food and dependable goods. The study
has used three different research phases: identification of barriers from the
literature, interviews with various department managers and a survey of
auto component manufacturing industries.

QuynhAnh Nguyen (2018) this empirical study is the first to analyze the
response of Vietnamese Food plants to ISO 14001. The influence of ISO-
compliant environmental management systems in Vietnam's Food industry
was studied by examining the differences between pre- and post-
certification and by comparing the results between certified and non-
certified Food plants using a questionnaire and environmental indicators.
The results of the management performance analysis demonstrated that
the environmental awareness and attention in certified plants was better
than in the non-certified plants.

Natasha Coxed all (2019) Achieving a consistent brand experience across

a destination and all brand-touch points is a major challenge in destination
branding efforts. Strategies to manage the complexity of coordination
across multiple network stakeholders are therefore critical for destination
management Food industry. However, theories to inform these strategies
are limited. This paper proposes that internal brand management theory
provides a framework to explore strategies that may increase operator
buy-in to the destination brand, thus creating a more consistent brand
experience for visitors. Semi-structured interviews with members of a
destination brand network indicate that highly centralized networks hinder
operator buy-in to the destination brand. Informal communication via
more personalized sub- networks rather than directive leadership appears
to facilitate knowledge sharing and create support mechanisms that
promote brand citizenship behavior
