Scope This Japanese Industrial Standard specifies the spring pins, hereinafter referred to as the "pins", for general use. Remark: In this standard, units and numerical values given in{ }aro in accordance with the International System of Units (SI), and are given for reference. 2. Classification The pins are classified into two classes as given in Table 1 according to the dimension of thickness of sheet. ‘Table 1 Class symbol For general use A For light load uso 3B Applicable Standards: JIS G 3811-Cold Rolled Special Steel Strip JIS Z 2245-Method of Rockwell Hardness Test Reference Standard: JSMA No. 6-1976 Steel Strip for Spring Copyright by the Japanese Industrial Standards Sal May 10 05-402 2008 JIS 82808 78 MM 4933608 001256) 9 mm 2 B 2808-1978 8. Types ‘The pins are classified into two types as given in Table 2 according to the chamferings of end faces. Table 2 Double-face-chamfered type Single-face-chamfered type Hardness In the testing conducted in accordance with the specifications of 9.1 Hardness Test, the hardness of pins shall be H,C 45 to bU or corresponding to these. Furthermore, no pin shall have remarkable decarburization. Double Shearing Strength In the testing conducted in accordance with the specifications of 9.2 Double Shearing Strength Test, the double shearing strength of pins shall prove not less than those shown in Attached Table. In addition, no crack, in the axial direction of pin, shall occur when it breaks. 6. Shapes and Dimensions ‘The shapes and dimensions of pins shall conform to Attached Table. Appearance ‘The surfaces of pins shall be smooth and crackless and be free trom harmful defects in use such as rust, flashes and bends. Materials ‘The material of pins shall generally be 8 60 CM to § 70 CM or SK 5 M of JIS G 3811, 9. ‘Testing Methods 9.1 Hardness Test The Iurduess (ust shall be carried out in accordance with the method of JIS Z 2245 or the method corresponding to that. 9.2 Double Shearing Strength Test The double shearing strength test shall be carried out in accordance with Appendix. Mount the pin to be tested as its clearance makes right angles to the loading direction, and load on it at a loading speed of not more than 12 mm per minute, and then measure its breaking load. If double shearing of one pin is difficult due to shortness of the pin, carry out the test at the same time placing two pins in series.
