Most days, I woke up early enough, so that I
could work out before class and be
energized for the rest of my day. On days I
didn’t, I either found time during the rest of
the day to work out or made sure I got up
on time the next day to work out.

I did not let the fact that I was limited to the
same weights for months discourage me
from continuing to exercise. Instead of
lamenting that I didn’t have heavier weights
or didn’t feel comfortable going to the gym
during the pandemic, I added more reps so
that I could still benefit from the weights I
was using for a while.

Acting can be very stressful as I am
constantly having to be vulnerable and put
myself under the scrutiny of others based
off the sound of my voice, the way I stand,
how I use my arms. All that emotional
stress can often be alleviated when I give
myself opportunity to physically work all
that tension out.

If I maintain a schedule where I always start
my day by working out and taking a quick
shower, I will always be fresh and energized
by the time I have a meeting, rehearsal, or
audition. Not only will I be helping myself in
the long run by exercising, but every day I
will look and feel really great whenever I
walk into a room because I know I look at
least a little bit better than I did yesterday.
