1. Set Up Tool
Set Up Tool is for set up and change VHMS default data.
1.1. Before Start up “Set Up Tool”

Make sure VHMS controller and PC is connected by RS232C cable and Key Switch is ON before
start the program.。
1.2. Start
This program is not shown in VHMS technical analysis tool box main menu. You need to start
the program from [kd_set.exe] located the in the same folder as VHMS program.
Folder name in case not changed at installation
C:¥Program Files¥KOMATSU¥VHMS Integrated Tool Soft
File name：
kd_set.exe

Recommend to create the short cut on desktop scren.

1.3. Log in
1.3.1. Log in screen

Log in screen is shown as follow and request user to enter ID and Password. Also ask communication
port with VHMS. (with this beta version, Service ID is 9 )
Service ID
Service ID is 9 for beta test version.
Port No.：
Initial set up is COM1.

［OK］button：
Once OK is clicked, then program confirm a communication between VHMS controller. If
communication confirmed good then show “Set Up Tool main menu ”. Otherwise, error message
is shown.
1.4. Automatic Machine Table Update
In case the program is connected the new introduced model which, the program automatically
recognize that and try to download the model definition table from the VHMS controller. If
following screen is shown, then click OK..
It will take a minute to finish this process.

1.5. Main menu screen
Following screen is shown once log in succeeded.
In this screen, major VHMS setting is done such as model serial, satellite communication set
up etc.
In case VHMS technical analysis tool box doesn’t have machine definition file in it, error
message will be shown.

If this screen is show, you need ot get latest Machine definition file（KD_MTYPE.ini）

Only white column can be set. No change can be done in gray column.

Product Group：
Product group can not be changed.
Machine Model：
Model can be selected from pull down list.
TYpe：
Model type can be selected from pull down list.
There are some types can not be selected.
Variation Code：
Minor variation code can be selected if required.
Serial No.：
Serial number can be changed.
(b) SMR
SMR：
Display SMR.
To change SMR, type 、［Alt］+［s］ together.
SMR can not be set smaller than current set.
(c) Engine information

Engine Model：
Display and change engine model.
Engine Serial No..1：
Primary engine serial number (Front engine)

Rear engine serial or transmission serial.

Spare
Can not be changed
(d) Other
Program No.(1)：
VHMS program version.
Can not be changed.
Program No.(2)：
Can not be changed
(e) Set button

Overwrite VHMS.
Effective only any changes done.

Calendar data data can be downloaded from VHMS controller. Please do it before setting (［File］
→［Get the newest data］

Date：
DD/MMM/YYYY
Select from pull don or type in.
Time：
Display or change local time.
GMT Reference：
Time difference from GMT
Summer Time：
Set if today is in summer time or not.
If selected, clock delays one hour.

Overwrite VHMS
Effective only of any change is made.

1.7. Communication setting
To set up sattelite communication setting, select this scren.

(a) Communication Data items

Item：
Name of VHMS file to be satellite communication
If setting is edited, *marked ond once VHMS is overwritten, the mark disappears.
Send：
Select if send file.
ON ：send
-- ：not to send
Timer：
Sending intervals
Occurrence ：Send file every time event occurred.
SMR ：Send by SMR interval
Day ：Send by days
Calender ：Send on calendar date,time

Number：
Number of data (raw) to send in one time.
Depends on kind of file, number can not be chosen.
If no number selected, “ —”is displayyed.
Interval
Sending frequency
（Timer）
Occurrence ：“――” displayed.
SMR ：hours of interval
（ex.：“160(SMR)” → send every 160ｈSMR）
Day ：days of interval。
（ex：“3(Days) 2:00” → every 3 days at 2:00 O’clock）
Calender ：date and time of every month
（ex.：“1(Date) 3:00” → 1st day at 3:00 every month）
(b) Edit
Selected data file setting will be changed.

1.8. Reset communication setting to default
By selecting [Reset Satellite Communication Setting to default］ in tool bar, communication setting
resets to default.
1.9. GCCSetting
GCC (Gateway Control Center) is necessary setting item for satellite communication (Orbcom).
GCC varies depends on countries.

1.10. Memory clear
Clear VHMS memory per data files.
1.10.1. Procedure
a select［Clear］in tool bar in main menu screen.
b Enter ID for memory clear. In Beta test version, ID is 9.

Mode
Download：When downloading, clear data which you have downloaded by selecting. If select
load map data, only temporary load map data is cleared.
Overhaul：Select when component replacement or overhaul which you like to accumulate
all data from start.
Selected Item
Display data which you can select.

1.11. PLM setting screen
Some VHMS model (dump truck with PLM) allows user to change summarizing interval in VHMS.
1.11.1. PLM setting procedure

a Select [Plm］from too bar in main menu.

Time when start PLM data sum.
Interval
Number of days to be summarized. (total of a day or total of four days etc.)

Error message Meaning Action

KD_SET – Error： Unsuccessful VHMS communication Check the connection and try again
Can not Communicate with VHMS (RPC)
KD_SET – Error： Machine definition file is not registered in the Get and register the definition file
ModelList for connected VHMS program program

Time Out. Can not Comunicate with VHMS. Confirm if key switch is ON position.
KD_SET – Error： Unable to communicate with VHMS. Check connection. COM port setting in PC.
Can not Communicate with VHMS (RPC) Confirm if key switch is ON position.
Convert Error： Contact to KOMATSU VHMS specialist
Can't convert data.
Can't create directory or file.
