Tip
As of May 2020, the latest version of Windows 10 is version 1909, released on
November 12, 2019, and available as a free upgrade through Windows Update.
One of the largest updates to Windows 10 was the Fall Creators Update, released
on October 17, 2017.
Note
Microsoft skipped from Windows 8 (Windows 8.1) to Windows 10, and there was
never a version of Microsoft Windows called "Windows 9."
System requirements
To upgrade your Windows 7 or 8.1 machine to Windows 10, you will need to
meet system hardware requirements. Remember that these are just the minimum
requirements, so you may need a faster processor, more memory, or a more powerful
graphics card to upgrade if you plan to use your computer for playing games or other
demanding apps.
