I will develop my leadership in Meaningful Instruction (all subject areas).

● Goal: Engage in classroom instruction that is interesting and relevant to help students
remember content learned.
● Rationale: Learning should be connected to meaning, student-focused (they figure out
problems), frequently assessed, and celebrated for concept mastery (Edutopia).
● NBPTS: Proposition 3: Teachers are responsible for managing and monitoring student
learning.
● TLMS: Domain 4: Facilitating improvements in instruction and student learning.
● Objective: Regularly ask for feedback from students through Google Forms (or other
exit ticket) about creating learning experiences they remember (short/long-term).

I will develop my leadership in Integrative Curriculum (all subject areas).


● Goal: Design ways to weave subjects together so students will cultivate a deeper
understanding of content matter.
● Rationale: The benefits of integrating curriculum across disciplines through learning
centers and/or parallel disciplines will help students “learn about the concept of patterns
through the lenses of various disciplines” (What Is Integrated Curriculum?)
● NBPTS: Proposition 2: Teachers know the subjects they teach and how to teach those
subjects to students.
● TLMS: Domain 4: Facilitating improvements in instruction and student learning.
● Objective: Take time to break apart each subject area, categorize by common
theme/pattern, and teach students the integrative curriculum. (short/long-term).

I will develop my leadership in Student Assessment (all subject areas).


● Goal: Use a variety of qualitative and quantitative assessments for school improvement,
instructional improvement and enhanced student learning.
● Rationale: The most effective way to teach instructional content is through quantitative
and qualitative assessments.
● NBPTS: Proposition 3: Teachers are responsible for managing and monitoring student
learning.
● TLMS: Domain 5: Promoting the use of assessments and data for school and district
improvement.
● Teacher Inquiry: I will develop my skills in providing opportunities for qualitative and
quantitative assessment in choice boards through my teacher inquiry.

I will develop my leadership in Professional Development (all subject areas).


● Goal: Provide appropriate mentoring relationships for new teachers.
● Rationale: According to Edutopia, teacher mentors should be confidants, observers, and
confidence builders to effectively help newer teachers.
● NBPTS: Proposition 5: Teachers are members of learning communities.
● TLMS: Domain 3: Promoting professional learning for continuous improvement.
● Objective: Serve as a mentor to a new teacher in the Fullerton or other induction
program (short/long-term).
