The mental influence of children amid the covid pandemic 19

This Corona virus is a type of Corona virus that has just been discovered and can infect
humans because of its speed of reproduction, even though in general it only infects animals.
There are 7 types of Corona viruses that can infect humans, some of which are viruses called
sars-cov and MERS-CoV including viruses that have just been discovered, they are all a family
of viruses that attack the respiratory system, the existence of this mysterious virus raises many
questions. The virus was first identified in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December 2019 and is
suspected of starting in bats sold in a large live seafood and animal market. Besides being able
to move from animals to humans, it can also be transmitted from humans to humans.

Still in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. The number of cases is increasing from
cases / incidents in children. the imposition of social restrictions has created fear and anxiety
around the world, including in Indonesia. The social restriction policy implemented in the field
of education with the implementation of a distance learning system (PJJ) for all students in
Indonesia, has caused various polemics for students and parents throughout Indonesia. With the
restrictions on student learning activities at home, of course students experience drastic changes
related to normal activities at school. In fact, activities at school are a means of learning and
playing for children and adolescents. So that since the imposition of restrictions, these various
activities must be carried out at home with family members and their parents.

The application of communication in the family, namely a form of interaction between

parents and children, the pattern of family communication on the mental health of children in the
midst of the Covid-19 pandemic is very influential, because it can make children more open and
free to express the feelings they experience, so that the child's mental health is protected from the
situation. Excessive stress and anxiety because in the family, especially at an early age, children
need a special approach unlike adults or children who are approaching adolescence. Therefore, a
separate method is needed from the parents, especially the father and mother as the head of the
household and especially for the mother as the main madrasa for a child in fostering and shaping
his character.

The spread of the Covid-9 pandemic around the world does not only affect physical health,
but also mental health. One of the effects of a pandemic on mental health is feeling anxious
about being exposed to the virus and uncertainty during the pandemic. Anxiety needs to be
managed properly in order to keep alert, but not excessive, causing mental health problems to get
worse. This sudden change certainly has an impact on our daily lives as well as our children.
The impact is not only felt in daily activities, but also on mental conditions. Especially for
children, the current conditions that force them to stay at home all the time can have a negative
impact on their mental development.

This pandemic has a very negative impact on children's mental, Children are very at risk of
dropping out of school because they are forced to work to help the family economy, children will
lose learning, because face-to-face learning activities in class produce better achievement than
distance learning, children often do not make good use of gadgets, gadgets greatly affect the
psychological development of children , especially the aspects of emotional growth and moral
development. In their emotional growth, children who use gadgets become irritable, disobedient,
imitate their behavior on gadgets and talk to themselves on gadgets. While the effect on moral
development, has an impact on discipline, children become lazy to do anything, abandon their
obligation to worship, and reduce learning time due to playing games and watching YouTube too
often.
