ACTIVITY 4 SHORT STORY
Beauty, Tranquility, and having fun are all things that pull me back underwater every
summer. Being deep underwater can calm my soul, letting me enjoy the wonderful scenes that only
can be found under the rippling waves of the sea. My friends and I had been planning to go to
Palawan this vacation for months, and today was the day that it would happen. After we arrived in
our hotel, we rest for a while and watch the amazing sunset. So, this is our second day here in
Palawan and we plan to try scuba diving.
Since this is our first time to try it, we asked a professional trainer and she prepared the
scuba gear bag with all the basic equipment for us. As the sound of the boat choking to start came
into my ears, and the smell of the gasoline seeped into my nostrils I imagined where we were going
to be in a Few minutes. My friends and I were looking at each other every few minutes as we’re all
excited and nervous at the same time. After we arrived at the spot, we dive and finally ended our
decent to the seabed, which was some hundred feet below the surface. I looked up and could make
out the outline of the boat’s bottom. This was to be a magnificent dive! The first thing I came upon
when I hovered above the reef was a beautiful Angelfish. It’s vibrant colors shining at me, enticing
me to take a closer look. Golden yellows, deep and dark blacks, and warm blues were all over it’s
body. Turning away from his gaze, I saw different kind of corals and other sea creatures.
The experience left me feeling serene and mellow. Being submerged under water, with
heavy weights pulling you down, I was surprised to note that there was absolutely no
gravitational pull, despite the heavy weights and gear I was wearing. Me and my friends were so
happy and never regret that we tried scuba diving. We went back to our hotel to rest and eat, and
went to some shops after. That activity was extremely fun and I won’t ever forget this day. I love
scuba diving.
