SPHERICAL VALVES, BUTTERFLY VALVES, ENERGY DISSIPATING VALVES
Simplified yet robust design, high reliability, low maintenance costs.

Spherical valves - Main features • Valve sealing function is achieved with soft rubber or metal seal, where
soft seal enables drop-tight leakage of the valve.
• Available with single or double seal, where maintenance seal enables
replacement of main seal without emptying the upstream penstock.
Maintenance seal is applied mechanically, for special applications may
however also be applied by means of pressurized penstock water.
• For smaller diameters, valve obturator and valve body are made as
welded construction of steel plates and forgings, whereas for larger
diameters valve obturator is made as welded construction of steel
plates and castings.
• Secure closing of the valve is achieved by using operating mechanism
Used as turbine inlet valves: with weighted lever, whereas in tight spaces also double acting hydraulic-
operated mechanism may be installed. Medium for operating the valve
• Installed on penstock diameters up to 3 meters, for heads up to 850
may be pressurized oil, for special applications also water from the

penstock.
• Due to its shape, valve obturator enables almost no disturbance of flow,
appropriate for negligible head-loss applications.

• Valve sealing function is achieved with metal or soft rubber seal, where
soft seal is used mainly for lower heads. Both, metal and soft rubber MES Extension, Iran 5600/5300 215 203,0 2004
