1. As a student, how do you benefit from literature?


As a student, the literature benefit to understand and appreciate the beauty of life. It
helps me think the nature of human, that in past years people did not change. I also
learned the history, behavior, culture and beliefs of our ancestors, some are still
existing, and some are forgotten. It widens my knowledge and creativity.
2. Why is it necessary for a student like you to be familiar of the forms and genres of literature?
As a student it is necessary for us to be familiar of the forms and genres of literature
because it helps to us distinguish its differences and be able to understand the deeper
meaning of a text. It also helps us to be aware of these things because we are going to
encounter them in school and probably write our own piece.
3. How is literary theory different from literary criticism?
Literary theory can be defined simply as the various methods we use to analyze and
understand literature. In other words, when we try to understand literature, we use
certain methods to help us understand the meaning, and those methods comprise
literary theory. Literary criticism, on the other hand, is the practical application of those
theories or methods to a particular work of literature, the actual use of a method to
better understand a text's meaning.
4. Why should you study literary criticism?
I should study literary criticism to ultimately reveal important aspects of the literary
work. Whenever I read the literary texts, I’m always questioning which is good because
it helps me deepen my understanding and learning the culture, values and their history.
We learn new about life and human condition.
