MODULE 1 and 2 Q4 READING AND WRITING SKILLS

INTRODUCTION
This subject will give you basic information about texts.
Your understanding of nature of texts will help you make your reading and writing more
worthwhile and more effective.
In this module, it will discuss texts as connected discourse. It presents text as a large unit of
written language that expresses or imparts one central idea, rather than a mere collection
of words, phrases, and sentences. When you understand that a text is connected discourse,
you become conscious that sentences in your writing must relate to one another. This
awareness then will encourage you to observe and employ the properties of a well-written
text-organization, coherence and cohesion, appropriate language use, and proper
mechanics. These properties make your writing clear and useful to the readers.

How do you critique or review a literary piece?
