Shaft design - project

Design a shaft, according to Fig. 1. The shaft is driven by a gear with diameter D1 = 2*r1. The gear
transmits torque to gear D2 = 2*r2. Nominal rotational velocity of the shaft is n. The shaft is intended
to operate with variable rotational velocity and direction of rotation. Force vectors in Fig.1 represent
positive values of forces.

Design criteria:
a) design a stepped shaft
b) include shaft components (bearings, positioning, torque transmission etc.)
c) select rolling contact bearings for the shaft - attach calculations
d) check shaft criteria for assembling gear transmission and bearings (deflection)
e) check fatigue strength (include shaft features and weak sections)
f) prepare a working drawing of the shaft (in CAD software)
g) prepare digital documentation - report including calculations
