Key Concepts

UPDATING CONTENT AND MAINTAINING TRAFFIC TO AN ICT PROJECT FOR SOCIAL

CHANGE

Regular website maintenance is essential to keep the viewers of the website satisfied
and its content error free. Common problems brought upon by website nor properly
maintained are broken links and the presence of non-functioning sites elements.
Maintenance is also associated with items or articles. For social change websites, most of
the website visitors go to it to find new items or articles for social change websites, new
happenings and events that will surely sought after, thus, maintenance and updates are
essential.
Updates can include the following parameters:

 Product Updates – Items or service offered by the websites are referred to as

products. This is very important to websites that are engaged in e-commerce.
Announcement of new product will surely encourage new viewers and will certainly
increase the number of visitors of the websites.
 Discontinuation of a Product – Similar to the announcement of new products,
viewers should be informed that a certain service of product offered by the website is
well informed and updated about products.
 Changes in Prices – The change in prices should be announced on the website so
that customers will not be caught unaware when purchasing items on your website.
This is one of most important content updates that can be done.
 Company or Organization News – This updates ensures that the viewers of the
website are aware of what is happening to the company or organization that owns
the website. In social change websites, this can be in a form of information regarding
a government agency, a politician, or an issue that the organization is safeguarding
of investigating. Furthermore, this can inform the viewers or visitors of the website
about an upcoming event, happening or protest organized by the group.
 Feature Addition – Upon the creation of the website, there are times where activities
are deadline bound. If there are less important elements or content that was left out,
this is the maintenance stage one by one when there is not much work to do.

 Link Checking – Links are most prone to errors, and that is why it is a must to check
and maintain them and the websites or pages they are directed to. If a link is broken,
viewers cannot identify that a word of phrase is a link. On the other hand, if the
website of page in the link is broken, a click in the link will direct the viewers to an
undesirable page or website.

SUSTAINING AN ICT PROJECT FOR SOCIAL CHANGE

to minimize the adverse impact of incidents cause by errors within the IT
infrastructure and to prevent recurrence of incidents related to these errors.
 Infrastructure Management – This process describe the processes within ITIL
(Information Technology Infrastructure Library) that directly relate to the ICT
equipment and software that is involved in providing ICT services to customers.
 IT Infrastructure – This refers to the composite hardware, software, network
resources and services required for the existence, operation and management of an
enterprise IT environment.
