1. You are interested to find out whether eating chocolate helps in recalling information.

To
do this, you prepared an experimental set up dividing 30 individuals into two groups with
15 participants each. One group was asked to eat a chocolate bar (Experimental Group)
while memorizing 20 words while the other group was given a placebo chocolate
(Control Group) and was asked to do the same. Both groups were given 5 minutes to
memorize the words and another 3 minutes to recall the words. Compute for the average
words recalled (round your answers off to one decimal place) based from the given data
set. After that, write a short report stating the hypothesis of the study and the result of
your computation.

2. Using the combined results from the control and experimental groups from the
hypothetical experiment above, identify the median and the mode.
3. You wanted to identify if a buddy system program implemented in your department was
effective at alleviating the perceived academic stress of the students. For the initial run
of the program, 15 students from the first year level, 12 from the second year level, and
7 from the third year level were considered participants. The Buddy-System Program
included regular “mentoring” sessions with their respective buddies throughout the
semester. Before the semester started and after the end of the semester, their perceived
academic stress was recorded and averaged and is presented in the table below.
Compute for the weighted average of the perceived academic stress of the participants
before and after the program. After that, write a short report indicating the hypothesis of
the experiment and its results.
