▪ Agricultural Engineering in the Philippines started


as a major field in Agriculture
▪ The 1st batch of Ag. Engineers was recognized as
early as 1957
▪ In 1964, the practice of Agricultural Engineering was
strengthened through RA 3927, An Act to Regulate
the practice of Agricultural Engineering in the
Philippines.
▪ The Act is known as the “The Philippine
Agricultural Engineering Law” of 1964

▪ This law has 31 sections (No Articles)


▪ Section 2 of the said law defines Agricultural
Engineering as a profession consists in the
application of the fundamental and known
principles of mechanical, civil and electrical
engineering to the peculiar conditions and
requirements of agriculture as an industry and
as a field of science.

▪ It stipulates that the practice of agricultural
engineering shall embrace the following
activities: (1) farm power and machinery, (2)
farm buildings and structures, (3) farm
electrification and farm processing, (4) soil and
water conservation which includes farm
irrigation and drainage, land clearing, flood
control, soil erosion control and related
problems, and (5) education and research.

▪ Section 14 of the said law specifies the following
scope of the Board Examination:
▪ Farm mechanization, farm power, farm machinery and
equipment (20%)
▪ Soil and water conservation, farm irrigation and
drainage (20%)
Rural electrification, farm processing and farm
structures (20%)
▪ Mathematics (algebra, plane trigonometry, analytics
and calculus) (10%)
▪ Agronomy and animal husbandry (10%)
▪ Farm economics and farm management (10%)
