ABSTRACT

Most of the present electronic equipments are powered by rechargeable batteries, so the user has
to replace or recharge them frequently, that causes an inconvenience for the user. So if we can
power them by extracting energy from ambient non utilized energy sources, it will be a great
advantage. In this presentation we will discuss the energy harvesting techniques from low speed
wind using piezoelectric effect. The basic principle involved, energy conversion stages, various
structural configurations, mechanisms used to convert the wind energy to mechanical vibrations,
techniques used to harvest energy from low frequency vibrations etc are discussed in this
presentation along with some models of wind energy harvesters.
