 Don’t forget Wednesday evenings bible study zoom meeting at 7:30 pm. Here is the link
https://us02web.zoom.us/j/87833620759

 The session has been meeting to have fruitful discussions about how to be the Church of Jesus
Christ in these new days that we find ourselves living in. The session has read “The Post
Quarantine Church” by Thom S Rainer. It is a very good book, and if anyone would also like to
read that, please let us know and we can get you a copy. Please be in prayer for the session as
they seek God’s leading and wisdom! Thank you! Pastor George

 You can join a Zoom meeting by means of teleconferencing/audio conferencing (using a

traditional phone). Call one of the numbers provided. Enter your meeting ID. Then you will b e
on the zoom meeting.
On Wednesday, February 24, we will have our annual congregational meeting on zoom at 7:30
pm. We need all EPC members to attend this meeting, as we have important business to
complete.
The purposes of the this meeting are:
The budget for 2021 will be presented for information
The Terms of Call for George Haugen will be presented
The Annual Report will be presented. (The Annual Report will be available at the church on
February 21, and it will be sent digitally before the meeting for those who have not picked one up
from church)
The session needs the congregation to give the session permission to be a Pastor Nominating
Committee, so that designated pastor candidates which have been provided by the Presbytery may
be interviewed.
We will also have a corporation meeting so that the 2021 officers can be presented to the
congregation.
What is a designated pastor?
We have had many conversations and e-mails with Deb Tregaskis, our Executive Presbyter, about
the correct procedure for procuring a designated pastor after George Haugen leaves in April.
When a pastor leaves, there are several options for the type of pastor position until a permanent
pastor is selected. Options are interim pastor, designated pastor, and preaching by church
members. The session voted to use the designated pastor option. A designated pastor is a
minister who is presented by the presbytery for a term of not less than two years and not more
than four years. The presbytery provides a list of nominees for the position of designated
pastor. Only those candidates provided by the presbytery can be considered for the designated
pastor position. When the designated pastor is selected, he/she is installed by the presbytery. After
the designated pastor has served for 3 years, if the congregation desires, they may call this person
as the next permanent installed pastor. This has to be within the last year of the contracted
relationship, and after a pnc has been selected and a pastor search conducted. The presbytery has
provided the session with designated pastor candidates. We need the congregation to give the
session permission to serve as a pnc at this time so that the session may interview the candidates
that have been provided by the presbytery. If we decide to search for a pastor at a later time, we
will select a pnc from both the session and congregation to do a pastor search.
Hopefully the above explains the designated pastor position. If you have other questions,
please contact any elder for more information.
Tithes and Offerings During the Pandemic

We have certainly missed each other while our beloved EPC has had to
rely on online services, meetings, and ministries during this
unprecedented time in our country and world. While we have not been
able to give tithes and offerings in our worship services during this time,
please know that your gifts are so important as we continue to cover the
church’s expenses and begin preparations for re-opening.

During these past several weeks, we have completed repair on the roof of
the sanctuary, purchased upgrades to our broadcasting software
capabilities, covered overhead and salaries, and begun to gather cost data
to take the steps necessary to safely re-open our church for worship
services.

We have an online giving platform through the Presbyterian Mission

Exchange. You may give there by going to the church’s website,
www.epclife.com, and clicking on the “make a donation or pledge” button
near the bottom of the screen. Gifts may be given using bank draft or
credit card and can be set up on a recurring schedule.

If you would rather not use the online method, you may mail your tithes
and offerings directly to the church. Please mark your envelope to the
attention of the Financial Secretary, Wayne Braddy. Wayne will make the
deposit on behalf of the church each week on Thursday. You may also drop
your gift off at the church office and give to Deanna who will forward it to
Wayne. Deanna is in the office in the mornings, Monday through Thursday.

Thank you all for continuing to support EPC. We look forward to

worshiping with you in our sanctuary soon!
