Objective
As an educator I realize the importance of identifying the individuality in the classroom. Students need to be given the freedom to not
only make mistakes, but also learn from them and grow from them. A good teacher is someone who can get students to strive for their
best in everything they do and aim for internal motivation so that it continues to be a motivator for years to come. As a principal, I feel
like I can apply that on a grand scale and reach more children and effectively change an educational community and potentially the
future. Even though I only have 4 years of experience I continue to learn every day and grow as an educator and a advocate for
children.
Experience
1st Grade Teacher- Grand Island Public Schools August 2014- Present
1st Grade Teacher- Kearney Public Schools August 2011- August 2014
Worked in a very low SES area with high turnover and mobile student base.
Worked with several different reading and math styles such as Daily 5, Treasures, and Guided Math Groups. All of the above
have helped me to grow as an educator. My experience with the students and families in crisis gave me a great understanding
of the importance that schools play in society if only as a safe haven for those that need it.
Education
Hastings College: M.A.T. Elementary Education, Early Childhood, ESL January 2009- May 2011
I am endorsed in three areas because I feel like all three are important areas where I can make a difference. In my Graduate career I
carried a 3.7 G.P.A. and was honored with the Ruth Meyer Graduate Scholarship, an honor that is bestowed upon one Grad student
who displays excellence inside and outside the classroom.
Hastings College: B.A. Broadcast Journalism August 2003- December 2008
My undergraduate degree is in Media Production with an emphasis in Broadcast Journalism. During my undergraduate career I
studied several communication theories and their effects on society. This gives me an advantage in the classroom because I understand
not only how to speak with students, but parents and co-workers as well.
